Music Club Deluxe MCDLX062.
With the film Juno featuring the Mott track All The Young Dudes, the time is right for another compilation to tempt the curious into the Mott The Hoople back catalogue.
Actually, this one's not too bad. It has all the singles (including the single version of Roll Away The Stone), and a good selection of album tracks. Unusually for an Mott The Hoople compilation there are also a few live tracks as well. A welcome surprise is the presence of some post-Hunter MOTT tracks, although the absence of solo Hunter tracks seems strange.
The sleeve notes give a concise history of the band, although there are more mistakes than I would have liked. At this price point, however, I don't think we can expect perfection and the casual fan wanting to know more would in any case check out Wikipedia, Google and maybe this site for better info.
To summarise, as an introduction to Mott The Hoople this is as good a place to start as any.
