Review

Another year, another Ian Hunter tour. This time, tho', there is new material to promote. Borrowing heavily from the rather excellent Rant, and with a new guitarist in tow (Andy York, his best guitarist since Ronson) Ian plays a blinder.

OK, songs like Standing In My Light and Bastard have overstayed their welcome, but the newer material just stands out more as a result. Wash Us Away, American Spy, Ripoff and Dead Man Walkin are simply stunning. Still Love Rock n Roll has a complicated arrangement and just about makes it, as does the old Hoople number Pearl n Roy (never before performed live).

Sound quality is good for an audience recording with slight compression but audience noise rarely intrudes. A good souvenir to have from the 2001 tour.
