Mott The Hoople and Ian Hunter

Introduction

We have had several attemps at transcribing the lyrics to Thunderbuck Ram. The lyrics proved very difficult to decipher. As such, the transcriptions have gone through several (in some cases, major) revisions. We now believe 'Take 3' is the best and is the one I present in the main section of this site. These works-in-progress are provided here for completeness.

Thunderbuck Ram

(Mick Ralphs)

Take 1

Will there come a time
When songs are hard to find
And all those nursery rhymes are far from here

There's got to be a change
Thoughts to rearrange
Could it seem so strange to drive me deeper

Only time has shown
Of our unrelenting love
Disguised a lonely heart has tried to steal it

Life will still go on
Whatever side you're on
And realise what's gone was never here man

Transcribed by Greg Luker

Take 2

There may come a time,
when songs are hard to find
And all those rhymes are (?)
There's got to be a change
Thoughts to re-arrange
Does it seem so strange
You try redealing.

Only time will show
It's the only end you know
Those guys from down below
They're tryin' to see them
Life will still go on
When everything is wrong
Do (?)

Transcribed by Colin Ford

Take 3

Will there come a time when sorrow's hard to find
And all those nursery rhymes will find a meaning
There's got to be a change, thoughts to rearrange
Does it seem so strange to try redeeming

Only time will show if the unrelenting blow
That's cast from down below does strike the ceiling
Life must still go on whatever's right or wrong
Realise what's gone and was never healing

Transcribed by Steve Norgrove. Anthony Joel suggests a lyric of "...realise this karma's never healing".

Take 4

Will there come a time
When someone's hard to find
And all those will survive to find a meaning
There's got to be a change
thoughts to rearrange
Could it seem so strange to care redeeming

Only time is strong
If the only legend of life
Is God from now and then to strike the ceiling
Life will still go on
When everything is wrong
When life is gone most ever healing.
